Research Interests

I am mainly interested in genome architecture and evolution of supergenes. A classical example of supergenes in plants is the S-locus in Primula which controls the heterostyly –presence of two flower morphs in the population with reciprocal positions of anthers and stigmas. During my post doc I will generate several chromosome level genomes of hetero- and homostylous species throughout the Primula genus to explore the origin and assembly of the S-locus.

I also have several projects running on peatmoss (genus Sphagnum) in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Péter Szövényi (University of Zürich), Prof. Hans Stenøien and Prof. Kristian Hassel (NTNU University, Norway). These projects include genetic basis of colour polymorphism, evolution of sex locus/chromosome and genetic makeup of hybrid Sphagnum species.

We have several master’s projects available (see here and here). Please contact me if you are interested.
