During my master thesis I'd like to elaborate the ecology and site characterisation of two rare alpine species: Carex atrofusca and Carex vaginata. The current description of the species does not seem to be precise, as they occur in different habitats than described in textbooks. For this reason, I have collected various herbarium specimens from numerous museums, botanical gardens, and universities, and transcribed and georeferenced them as well as possible. Information platforms such as Info Flora and GBIF were also used to identify more recent sites. In a next step, I will visit those locations during the field season and verify if the species still occur there. Additionaly, I will assess and analyse the vegetation in their respective habitats.
